less than ideal

the drive was a little less than ideal so far. 30 mintues out of traverse city, detour #1. mum and dad decided to make their own way instead of following the signs. bad idea #1. they almost plowed into 5 or 6 dear and circled around the same lake a couple of times. we pulled into escanaba around 1:30am, 2 hours longer than expected. we headed to minneapolis 8:30am the next day. it was hot, the car wouldn't go more than 45mph half the time and jameson and i started getting pressure sores on our bums, at least that's what it felt like. oh yeah, and dad took a wrong turn and we went about 1 hour out of our way. yes, dad's driving, we like mum better than dad to sit in the back with us. we got to keri and charlie's around 6:30pm, 2-3 hours longer than expected. keri and charlie had a baby tuesday and we added unnecessary chaos to the house. but mum was happy to meet their new beautiful baby girl, Lian. we left their house around 9:30pm (the same night) and headed to great grandma's in aberdeen, SD, ringing the doorbell around 3am. 18 1/2 hour trip. so much for "not pushing it." mum can honestely say it was the worst birthday ever.
