today dad celebrates 1 year of no driving. he gave up his driver's license last may as an "experiment" but he says it hasn't been that bad so he's going to keep going. he has had a few "cheats" where he drove short distance during pinches. maybe 4-5 times total.
getting to work/grocery store/library "sucked" in the winter but we're lucky to live in a great spot that is super close to everything so getting around on the bike or footmobile is fairly easy.
here's some numbers:
number of shoes trashed: 3
number of bike chains rusted stiff: 2
bike crashes on the ice: 3
rolled ankles on ice: 1
most groceries pulled in trailer: $65
most groceries pushed running: $45
annual miles biked or ran to work: 720
calories burned running: 1040/hr
miles per gallon on bike: infinite
