well dad can at least say he lined up against some of the nation's best from teams like priority health, kelly benefits, jittery joe's, toyota united, jet-fuel and members of both canadian and mexican national teams but unfortunately he didn't finish with them. he hung tough over the 21% climb at the 50mi mark and was in the main group (maybe 20 guys but with 2 breaks way up the road) until the last serious climb at 80mi when he finally cracked and got dropped. he hopped in with a group of stragglers but couldn't resist a short cut to the finish to meet mum, jameson and me so he dnf'd. bummer. jp's got some pictures up here.
mum is out now on a 100mi ride of her own. it should be much more civilzed with lots of sag stops, pee breaks and socializing.
dad says he doesn't want to look at his roadbike for a month. we'll see about that.
